While on a boat tour to Assateague island I was told by my guide that the crab cakes here were as good as it gets in Ocean City. So to follow up on his recommendation we stopped by on our way home. And no doubt about it they were by far the best that I’ve had in a longtime. The crab cakes were delicious with lots of meat and crispy. Made to order so they were nice and hot I would definitely recommend and visit again. A little pricey but well worth it for a crab cakes with no added fillers. The dining room is small but welcoming. I didn’t get any dessert but to slices of cake 🍰 were very tempting.

There are some meals you enjoy, and then there are those little moments on the trip that stay with you.
And Captain's Galley Crab Cake Shack in Ocean City is unforgettable.
Crab Cakes were simply incredible. Texture was light and fluffy like a cloud, and at the same time you were biting into big chunks of crab meat. It was just ...perfect. Four men were sitting by the table next to me, and one of them said that he lives in Florida, travels a lot, and this is by far the best crab cake spot. That made me even more confident that I made the right choice.
The next day I ended up at a restaurant in Berlin sitting next to a local gentleman. I asked him what he would recommend. I mentioned that I might try crab cakes - he said that it was a good choice. So I mentioned that the other day I really enjoyed crab cakes from Captain's Galley, and without hesitation he looked at me and said: " IF YOU HAD THOSE, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THESE". Made me laugh, but I knew what he meant lol.
Sometimes a place doesn't need fancy words or a big space behind it. Sometimes you simply take a bite and know.
And YES... I would go back just for those crab cakes.

This was hands down the best crab cake we’ve had so far! Practically no filler whatsoever and the homemade tartar sauce was incredible! We got the Sunday $25 special with salad and baked potato. Everything was so good and fresh. We will definitely be back next time we visit OCMD!
