Assateaque Crab House was such a delightful surprise! The food was fantastic and service was friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and would love to go back! We go the broiled seafood platter and the trio, it was all perfect, filling and so flavorful! Such a great experience and delicious local seafood.

3.5 Stars – Great Service, Hit-or-Miss Food, But Worth Another Visit

We recently dined at Assateague Crab House and overall had a mixed but promising experience. First and foremost, the service was absolutely 5-star – our server was friendly, attentive, and on top of everything from start to finish. That level of hospitality definitely elevated the meal.

As for the food, there were some hits and some misses. We started with the steamed shrimp, which unfortunately were overcooked and a bit tough, but they were beautifully seasoned with what tasted like a J&O-style spice blend – bold, flavorful, and classic Eastern Shore. With better execution on the cook time, they would’ve been perfect.

The crab cake was on the smaller side and while it had decent flavor, it wasn’t particularly memorable – good, not great. Definitely not the standout item of the evening, but not bad either.

While we didn’t get crabs this time, we saw several trays of them go out to other tables and they looked fantastic – large, well-seasoned, and meaty. We’ll definitely be back to give those a try next time.

All in all, Assateague Crab House is probably more deserving of a 3.5-star rating. Some food items could use improvement, but the excellent service and promising crab offerings make it worth another visit. Looking forward to giving them another shot and trying some other menu items.

I took my dad to Assateague Crab House for Father's Day. It was a very nice spot, close to our campground in Berlin. We were lucky to find a table as soon as we walked in. We were greeted by the front lady, and we had a very welcoming and friendly server. It was very quiet for a Sunday, with a very laid-back atmosphere.

We started with appetizers: the crab dip was very tasty in a warm, perfectly baked bread bowl. The raw oysters were large and super fresh. I have to say the calamari was overcooked and very crispy, almost hard to taste. We ordered the dinner for two with a lobster, which was amazing! The grilled scallops with mashed potatoes and green beans were very tasty and perfectly cooked.
